Looking through some prints and I found this image I took last time I was in India. I was walking along a street in Ludhiana, the usual Indian chaos, people, cars and scooters everywhere and the constant beeping of horns…I look up and there’s the biggest elephant you’ve ever seen coming towards me…it was massive.

Talking of India, I was Google Image searching for a shopping centre in Delhi Ojaswini was going to, I ended up on a Delhi fashion/style blog written by a woman called Eshna. I emailed her and she seems really cool, here’s her blog allthingsdesirable.blogspot.in…it’s interesting to see and hear the style thoughts of an Indian woman in Delhi and how they compare to here.

Technically speaking I don’t have the copyright to this image, but I’m sure the photographer I was assisting won’t mind since it’s a test of me. As an assistant you often ended up being photographed to check the lighting, cropping etc…before digital we went through boxes of polaroid film. I have a large pile of polaroids from shoots, depending on who we were photographing sometimes neither me, nor the photographer, were allowed to keep the polaroids…occasionally I’d sneak one into my back pocket so I had a record of certain shoots I’d been on. I don’t actually remember who this test was for, not that I would name drop anyway, (anyone who knows me knows I wouldn’t do that)…I don’t remember owning a New York Yankees cap either, lol ?

I’ve been going back and forth recently about possibly changing my lenses. My main concern was that my 24mm f/2.8D was falling way behind optically compared to my newer A-FS lenses, but after having a close look at images like this of Wild Card Kitty backstage, shot at 3200 iso, f/2.8. 1/45 sec, I realise I’m just being silly. It might not be as good as my newer lenses, but the quality is still there…24mm is such a beautiful focal length.

I see Yahoo have bought Tumblr for a silly amount of money. I hope they don’t play around with it too much, it took me a long time to find a blogging system I was happy with, and I’d rather not have to switch to another…some people have started leaving Tumblr already.

This is a close up, of a contact sheet, of my friend’s mehndi covered hands on her wedding day. I’m not a wedding photographer, but I promised her I would take some images of her getting ready that morning…my photographs lasted longer than her marriage did. I remember the happiness when I took these, and I remember the pain when her marriage fell apart…I don’t like weddings.

This week Hasselblad announced they were stopping production of one of the most iconic camera systems ever made, the V Line. As an assistant I changed thousands of film backs on 500CMs, 501CMs and 503s…sometimes they were a pain in the ass to focus, but still wonderful cameras to use. I took this polaroid of the incredibly beautiful Mei on a Hasselblad 501CM many years ago.
